How we check every tradie.
Before a tradie can reply to your job, we check who they are and that their paperwork is real: against official registers, not their word for it.
Five checks, against official sources.
Which checks apply depends on the trade. Every profile shows which ones passed.

ABN
Their business is real and active.
Checked against the Australian Business Register, and the business has to match the person.
Re-checked against the register on a rolling cycle. A cancelled ABN loses its badge.

Licence
They hold the licence their trade needs.
Checked live with the NSW Fair Trading register (QBCC in Queensland). The class has to cover the work and the name has to match.
Re-checked every 12 months, or the badge comes off.

Photo ID
They are who they say they are.
A driver licence, passport or NSW Digital Driver Licence, matched by name to their register records. We don't keep the ID number.
Checked when they join. They must be 18 or over.

White Card
They've done the construction safety induction.
Checked with the SafeWork NSW White Card register, and the name has to match.
Re-checked every 12 months, or the badge comes off.
Needed for licensed trades.

Insurance
They hold public liability cover.
Their Certificate of Currency: the insurer, a business name that matches their ABN, and at least $5 million cover. AI-checked, with a person reviewing anything unclear.
Expiry dates are watched every night. Expired cover loses its badge.
Required for trades that don't need a licence. Licensed tradies can add it too.

The BLDESY Score.
A number out of 100 that sums up a tradie in one place. Here's how it's worked out:
- Mostly the checks (70 points). The five checks above, plus GST registration and how long the business has been running.
- Public reputation (30 points). Their Google rating and how many reviews back it up, and their wider presence online.
- New isn't bad. A tradie with no online history starts from a fair middle score, not zero.
- A person looks at anything odd. Before a new tradie goes live, anything that doesn't add up is flagged for us to review.
- It can't be bought. It's refreshed about once a month. Paying BLDESY doesn't change it, and tradies choose whether to show it.

How reviews work.
- Every review is from a real job. Either the homeowner chose that tradie on BLDESY, or paid the tradie's BLDESY invoice.
- One job, one review. We ask once, about 10 days after you choose a tradie. No nagging.
- Tradies can't delete them. We only take a review down if it's reported and breaks our rules.
